Dear Pilgrim Lane Staff and Families,

Pilgrim Lane is a special place where people have:  lived together, loved together, learned together and laughed together for 43 years from 1966-2009.  Last Thursday’s “Parade of Memories” was an EXTRAORDINARY event.  We could not have scripted a better way to celebrate the life of our school.  The large turn out of current and former staff, families and friends that traveled far and wide is a tribute to the impact Pilgrim Lane has had in the community.  A very heartfelt thank you to the Legacy committee that put together such a fun, meaningful and historical event.  It was obviously a labor or love.  (Note- A very special thank you to those who put in a special request for good weather!)   It was a beautiful event and will be etched in our minds for years to come.

Personally I want to thank all of you for the past 13 years I’ve been able to serve as the principal of this special community.

·         Staff- Thank you for sharing your expertise and sincere love that brought out the best in children.  Whether you served as a teacher or support staff you made a big difference.  I know that you weren’t in it for the money.  As Tom Brokaw once said, “It’s easy to make a buck- It’s a lot tougher to make a difference.”

·         Parents- To be honest, the staff could not have accomplished what was done without your support at home, along with your overwhelming and selfless involvement at school.  Your hands-on engagement has been humbling and extraordinary.  It is a model of service something the staff and I never took for granted.

·         Community-  Thank you to the city of Plymouth and New Hope, along with the churches and businesses that supported Pilgrim Lane through the years.  Thank you for the value that you placed on education and what matters most.  Nothing is more important than the education of our children.  Our future depends on it.

·         Last and most importantly, the Children- What a blessing they have been! What promise there is for the future as we see them grow and mature.  They are the reason that our community has gathered together for the past 43 years.  It has been an honor and privilege to serve them.

Although it may sound biased, I feel that Pilgrim Lane has offered a world class education through the years…An education that will continue with a mark of excellence as they move on to other quality schools in the district.  I am very proud to be a part of Robbinsdale District 281 and wish you all the best has you join another school community.

As most of you know, I love to draw cartoons and want to leave you with a quote from my dear friend Dr. Suess,

“Don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened.”

Warmest Regards,

Mr. Moberg, Pilgrim Lane Principal

PS.  Remember to stay connected on the pilgrimlane.org website.  Encourage your children to read daily and have a wonderful, fun and safe summer with family and friends.
